Search “how to make a video ad with AI” on YouTube and you'll almost always find the same recipe: one tool to write the script, another for the images, a third to animate them, a fourth for the voice, then editing software and a last one for captions. Six tools, six subscriptions, six interfaces.
This recipe works, and each of these tools is excellent at what it does. But between the stacking subscriptions and the files you export from one tool to import into the next, a single 20-second ad can take you an afternoon. This guide covers the typical stack, what it really costs, the pitfalls people rarely mention, when it's still the right choice, and how to do the same thing in a single tool.
The typical stack, step by step
Here is the most common chain for an AI video ad, with each tool's entry price on monthly billing:
| Step | Most used tool | What it does | Entry price per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Script | Writes the hook, the shot-by-shot script, the variations | $20 | |
| Images | Generates each shot's image: character, setting, product | $10 | |
| Animation | Turns each image into a video shot of a few seconds | from $15 | |
| Voice-over | Reads the script with a realistic voice | from $6 | |
| Editing | Assembles the shots, the voice and the music | about $11 | |
| Captions | Adds TikTok-style animated captions | about $19 | |
| Total | about $80 a month | ||
| All of it | All six steps in one place, about 3 videos of 15 seconds a month | $39.99 a month ($27.99 billed yearly) |
Public entry-level prices checked in October 2026, in dollars, before tax. They change often and vary by country: check each tool's website.
And that $80 is a floor. Entry plans include few generations: a few hours of compute on Midjourney, few video credits on Higgsfield, 30,000 characters of voice on ElevenLabs. To produce several ads a week, you need to move up a plan almost everywhere, and the bill quickly climbs toward $120 to $150 a month.
Per video, for three 15-second ads a month: the stack comes to about $27 a video ($80 ÷ 3), before any plan upgrade. CreaFlow AI Starter comes to about $13 a video ($39.99 ÷ 3), or $9 billed yearly. In Europe, Starter is €34.99 a month, or €24.49 billed yearly.
What the stack really costs: time
Subscription prices aren't the biggest cost. The biggest cost is the back-and-forth. For a five-shot ad, the chain looks like this:
- Write the script in Claude, then copy each shot description into Midjourney.
- Generate, sort and download the images, rerunning the ones where the character or the product doesn't match.
- Import each image into Higgsfield, animate it, download each shot.
- Copy the text into ElevenLabs, pick a voice, export the audio.
- Import everything into CapCut, sync the shots to the voice, add the music.
- Export, import into Submagic, set up the captions, export again.
Each step is simple. Put end to end, they add up to dozens of exports and imports for a single video, and you start all over for the next variation. Yet on Meta, what wins is volume: our study of 237,000 Meta ads shows that only one ad in six becomes a long-runner among the most active advertisers.
The 4 pitfalls nobody talks about
1. The character changes from shot to shot. Each image is generated separately. Your actor's face, hairstyle or outfit shift from one shot to the next, and viewers notice right away. You get by with reference images and a lot of retries.
2. The product isn't yours anymore. An image generator invents a bottle that looks like yours, not yours. The logo warps, the label becomes unreadable, the shape changes. For an ad, that's a deal-breaker.
3. The lips don't follow the voice. An ElevenLabs voice laid over a shot animated in Higgsfield doesn't move the lips at the right moment. For an actor talking to camera, you need an extra lip-sync tool.
4. No tool knows your brand. Not your tone, your products, your customers, or what your competitors do. You have to explain everything again in every tool, for every ad.
When the separate stack is still the right choice
A stack of separate tools isn't a bad method. It's still the best in several cases:
- You're an editor or content creator and you want to set every frame, every transition, every word by hand.
- You make long or horizontal videos: YouTube, courses, brand films.
- You want your own cloned voice, or a language other than French and English for the voice-over.
- You want to pick the video model yourself for each shot, or test the latest one on release day.
If you mostly want to produce short ads for Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, every week, on brand, the other option becomes more interesting. Our comparison of the Higgsfield alternative covers the difference between a free-form creation tool and a tool built for ads.
CreaFlow AI: the whole chain in a single tool
CreaFlow AI does every step of the stack in one place, with an assistant, Flow, that already knows your brand and your products (it analyzes them from your store). You ask it for a video ad, and the chain unfolds before your eyes:
| Step | With the stack | |
|---|---|---|
| Script | Flow writes the script shot by shot, from your brand, and you edit it directly | |
| Images | One image per shot in the storyboard; each character is drawn once and reused in every shot | |
| Product | Reference images and retries | Your product is taken from your own photos, in every shot where it appears |
| Animation | Each shot is animated, then checked, and redone automatically if it drifts from its image | |
| Voice-over | 136 voices in French and English, up to four people speaking in the same video | |
| Lips | An extra lip-sync tool | Lips follow the voice on shots where someone speaks on screen |
| Music and sound | Music library | Background music made for the video (or yours), background sound per location, sound effects |
| Editing | Automatic edit, then texts, logo, sound and effects adjusted live, for free | |
| Captions | TikTok-style or karaoke captions, fixed with a double-click |
At each step, you approve before paying: the script, then the characters, then the storyboard. Only what you change is redone, and the price is shown before every paid step. A failed video costs you nothing: your credits are refunded.
Two things the stack doesn't do at all:
- Start from an ad that already works. CreaSpy, the library of real Meta ads built into CreaFlow AI, shows you the long-running ads in your niche. Click “Clone” under a video ad, and Flow offers you the same one for your brand, with your product (video cloning included from the Growth plan; cloning competitors' ads).
- Make your static ads too. The same subscription and the same credits cover your image ads, with no extra tool.
On the limits, to be upfront: videos are vertical (9:16) and last up to 15 seconds with Starter, 30 with Growth and 60 with Creascale. The voice-over is in French or English, and your own voice isn't possible yet. All the details are in the help article create a video, and our guide to AI UGC ads covers that format specifically.
Make your first video ad without switching tools
Open FlowAI, choose your brand, and write to Flow:
“Make me a 15-second video ad for my product, with a hook about the problem it solves and TikTok-style captions.”
Flow writes the script, which you read and edit before deciding anything. The script is free, even on the free plan: the plans only open when you confirm it. They start at $27.99/month (€24.49 in Europe) billed annually, with video included, details on the pricing page.
One subscription instead of six, and the time you used to spend exporting goes into testing new ideas.
