You've heard it everywhere: video is the format that performs, on Facebook and Instagram alike. And yet most e-commerce brands mostly run images. The reason is almost never a lack of ideas. It's the shoot: you need a camera, someone in front of the lens, a set, lighting, editing, and often you have to start all over because one shot doesn't work.
AI changes the game on that specific point. You can now make a video ad for your product without filming anything: you describe what you sell, the tool writes the script, generates the shots and the voice-over, then edits the video. This guide explains how, which formats work, when to pick video over static, and how CreaFlow AI does it end to end.
The real blocker isn't the idea
Ask any e-commerce seller whether they'd like to test video: the answer is yes. What blocks them is production. A shoot, even a modest one, has to be planned: finding a creator or filming yourself, gathering the gear, shooting, sorting the rushes, editing. For a single video. As a result, many bet everything on one “hero” video and hope it works.
That's a problem, because on Meta, what drives performance today is the diversity of creatives you give it to test, not one perfect video. What we observe is that the lever has moved from targeting to the volume and variety of creatives. And that volume is precisely what's impossible when every video depends on one person's calendar. AI removes that dependency.
What you really need
To make a video ad with AI, the list is short, and above all it contains no camera, no actor and no studio:
- A product, with at least one good photo if you want to stage it as it is sold.
- An angle: the precise reason someone buys (“it lasts all day”, “it replaces three products”). It's the backbone of the ad, before the video even comes into it.
- A clear message, which the voice-over will carry. If you don't know what to say, the tool suggests it.
The rest — the shot-by-shot writing, the images, the voice, the editing, the subtitles — is taken care of. Your job is to choose the right idea and approve it.
The video ad formats that work
There isn't just one way to make a product video. Here are the formats CreaFlow AI generates, and what each one is for:
- Product ad: your product staged as it is sold. It stays faithful to its real photos — it appears closed, set down or held, without being opened or distorted, and its contents are shown next to it. It's the default format when the product sells on its looks.
- Faceless video: shots filmed as if on a phone — hands, objects, a place — carried by a voice-over. You keep the “user-generated content” style that works on social media, without needing anyone in front of the camera. Ideal when the product is best demonstrated in use.
- Claymation cartoon: a short animated, narrated story in a stop-motion style. A lighter, more distinctive tone that stands out in the feed.
- Carousel: a series of photos with their text, to run as a carousel or as a video slideshow. Perfect for stacking several benefits, and it's created in one go, with no storyboard step.
All these videos are vertical (9:16), with subtitles and background music you can remove. The voice-over is available in French or English, with several female and male voices to choose from.
Video or static: which to start with
Video doesn't replace the image, it takes over from it. Each has a role, and confusing them is expensive.
Static is produced and judged in one second, with the sound off. It's the testing tool par excellence: you launch several angles as images, you watch which one hooks, you decide within a few days. That's the subject of our guide to the 15 static ad formats.
Video comes in next, when you need to show what an image can't: a gesture, a texture, a transformation, a demonstration of use. It holds attention longer and leaves a stronger impression.
The method that wastes the least: find the winning angle in static, then push it in video. You don't stake a production on an idea that was never proven; you set in motion what your audience has already validated.
Making your video ad, step by step
In CreaFlow AI, you ask the Flow assistant for a video in plain language — for example “make me a video ad for this product”. The process is designed so that nothing is charged until you've approved it:
- The proposal. Flow writes the script shot by shot, picks a voice and shows you the whole thing in a card. You can edit the text, listen to and change the voice, keep or cut the music.
- The storyboard, free. It generates the voice-over and one image per shot. Redoing an image or changing the text or the voice costs nothing, within a daily limit. You see exactly what the video will look like before you pay.
- The animation. Only at this point are credits charged: each shot is animated, then Flow edits the video in a few minutes. You can keep chatting while you wait; it appears in its card as soon as it's ready.
- The video. You watch it, you download it as an MP4, and you find it again in your Studio.
Two useful safeguards: a failed video costs you nothing (the credits charged are returned to you), and once the video is finished, you can still change its edit (subtitles, on-screen text, music) for free. The details of costs and limits are on the create a video page.
Above all, the video doesn't start from a blank page. Two CreaFlow AI building blocks feed it upstream: the search for ad angles written from the buyer's point of view, and the ability to clone an ad spotted in the Meta Ad Library — you reuse the idea and the mechanics, never the original visual.
The best practices that make the difference
Making the video is half the work. For it to perform on Facebook and Instagram, a few principles come up every time:
- Think vertical. 9:16 is the native format of Reels, where most of the video inventory is. A square or horizontal video loses screen space.
- Hook in the first second. People scroll the feed fast and mostly with the sound off: the first frame and the first subtitle word decide whether they stop.
- Keep the subtitles. A large share of views happen with the sound off. The convincing has to happen through the image and the text; the voice-over is a bonus for those who turn the sound on.
- Multiply, don't polish. Three videos on three different angles teach you more than a single perfect video. That's the whole point of producing without a shoot: variety finally becomes possible.

Where to start
You give your store link, CreaFlow AI analyzes your brand and your products, then you ask Flow for your video. The permanent free plan already lets you frame the idea and prepare the storyboard; video animation unlocks on paid plans.
The simplest thing is to try it directly from the app: describe your product, let Flow write the script, and look at the storyboard before deciding anything.
